Mark Sims’ songwriting and musicianship emanate from the sparse beauty of the Midwest plains he calls his home. CLOUDS OF DUST AND FIRE, his solo effort, spares no expense at painting a quiet exactitude that compels multiple listens and a quality that can't be ignored.
In an age of overproduced, overworded, singer-songwriter projects, Mark Sims and CLOUDS are pillars of modest, quiet excellence.
Mark’s career began in the bar scene in the late 1990s. He's played with such groups as Eileen Motok, The Southern Diplomats, The Tough and Lovely, Erika Carey and the Calamities, The Tin Hearts, The Thrashers and other projects.
He plays guitar, bass, drums and keys as well as singing lead and backing vocals. Mark currently splits his time between music, his wife and two children, and a historical restoration business with an emphasis on brick and stone masonry in the bungalow and craftsman style.
